MLD's range of Civil and Structural Engineering includes Academic Institutions, Office Buildings, Factories and Plants, Residential Apartments, Bungalows and Townships, Hotels, Hospitals, Temples and Entertainment Centres, TV Towers, Bridges, Runways and Hardcrust constructions.

In the late 1950s or early 1960s, Shell Roofing was a nightmare for even construction companies of repute which had foreign experts and advisors, given the technical complexities involved, M. L. Dalmiya & Co. Ltd. took up the challenge and completed the construction of Birla Planetarium in Calcutta. A glittering illustration of spherical dome, the Birla Planetarium was in fact, the world's second venture in Shell Roofing and first in India.

Sayal Bridge

The 183-metre along high level Sayal Bridge on the river Damodar in Hazaribagh district of Bihar is another creditable construction of MLD. There are a total of 6 piers supporting the bridge, each pier being 20 metres from bed level.
